Because I don’t have much time to waste on Talk Like a Pirate Day:
- A “new” Mozart piece was discovered on handwritten notation buried in a French library somewhere. Can’t wait for that new Mozart joint to drop! Seriously.
- Comcast has just shut down their newsgroup service in New York, pretty much ending free newsgroup access in that state. What a shame. The newsgroups were so good to me in my formative years.
- Some on-duty cops in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico spent a few hours goofing off with some off-duty colleagues who were fishing from the shoreline. They noticed somoene filming them as they wasted taxpayer dollars, so they grabbed the camera, threw the memory card in the water, and proceeded to beat the crap out of the guy. Then they charged him with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. Ironically, a municipal security camera captured such good footage of the incident that it was used to identify the officers, who are now being investigated.
- Wired magazine has a cool story on presidential debates and how the average guy will get no input on the topics discussed. I have a feeling that hell will freeze over before anyone asks John McCain and Barack Obama exactly what they propose to do to solve Puerto Rico’s political status issue end Puerto Rico’s colonial status in an expeditious manner.
- El Vocero reports that Puerto Rico’s unemployment rate hit 12.6% today. Dang. Life in paradise comes with its problems I guess…
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation has filed a suit against George Bush, Dick Cheney and the NSA on my behalf (well, I’m an AT&T customer, aren’t I?)
