Good News for Don Omar, Bad Excuses From Acevedo Vila, and Water Is Expensive!
Some noteworthy developments from Puerto Rico:
- Things are looking up for reggaeton artist Don Omar, who is currently in court following his 2004 arrest while smoking in a car full blunts and shake (plus the cops also claimed to have seized a handgun with the serial number filed off). A few days ago, inconclusive DNA test results from the contraband seized during the arrest cast doubt onto whether or not any of the occupants of the vehicle even touched the marijuana in question. The big break though, was Neftali (the arresting officer) Molina’s admission that he has a prior relationship with Don Omar’s former girlfriend and mother of his children – something that he denied earlier in the trial. This adds to evidence that backs up the defense’s argument that all items seized during that arrest were planted by the arresting officers, including the fact that Molina claimed that he did not recognize Don Omar until after the arrest was made – even though he and other officers had detained Don Omar and another individual two months before for Transit Law violations. - Three of Anibal Acevedo Vilá’s closest friends and associates have recently received surprise morning visits from the FBI. The governor says these are part of an FBI’s offensive in favor of his political opponent. He cites Luis Fortuño’s “weak” campaign for the upcoming elections as a reason for these suprise visits by the g-men. Gee, so it doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with the 19 federal criminal charges that have been brought against the governor???
- Six people were arrested for stealing water from fire hydrants on the 4th of July with the purpose of filling inflatable kiddie pools. Five live in the same housing project, but the sixth person lives close by. The housing project in question does not have any pools or fountains. Glad to see that la Policia is keeping all those evil criminals off the streets…
